About

The candidate’s vision, values, and motivations for running.

My name is Gadisa Berkessa, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Minnesota House of Representatives for District 31B. I moved to Minnesota 19 years ago and have called Andover home for the past 8 years with my wife and our two children. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and recently received my master’s degree from the University of Arizona during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a proud American, born in Oromia region, Ethiopia and son of immigrants, and a dedicated community member here in my chosen home of Minnesota, I have gained so much from living here. It is time for me to step up and give back by serving the community I love and where I want to keep raising my kids. I am continually inspired by the hardworking people of our district, and I understand what hard work means because I have lived it.
My priorities are clear: education, safety of our neighbors, women’s reproductive rights and healthcare access, and economic development.
As your representative, I am committed to championing these critical issues to build a brighter future for all residents of District 31B. Together, we can create positive change and build a thriving community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Your support is invaluable, whether you volunteer, contribute, or stay informed.
Thank you, and I look forward to earning your trust and your vote.
